It’s not like lava, it partially chemically decomposes. Lava is just molten rock.
Anyway, there was no molten steel found. Just some vague accounts.

Why would the spheres be oxidized if they were inside the building? Steel wool has similar diameter,
yet it lasts for decades. I've got some in my garage from ten years ago.

Steel wool does not last, I have steel wool and its full of rust. Steel wool is not of similar diameter.The building was not sealed during the welding and grinding period..
Welding and grinding period was done out in the rain and snow 40 years ago.
