9/11 Before the end there was a beginning

September 11th Larger Eathquake Details On Lock Down Issue

Before The 9/11 the seismic reporting lock down, larger seismic data was hinted at (before the end there was a beginning).

On September 12, 2001 was the last day anyone but Won-Young Kim talked about 9/11 but before the lock down started however the New York Time managed to write something up and there last article on the topic "A DAY OF TERROR: THE MEASUREMENT; Columbia's Seismographs Log Quake-Level Impacts

Congrats on your work anniversary! Did you look at the 9/11 data?

How big is that spike? Do you have the digital version?

at what time did that happen? Why is it shaped like a nuke.

    I don't know

  • Hi Dan, yes I was working in Seismology at the time. There are 5 different records from that day The first plane impact, the second plane impact , the first collapse the second collapse and building 7 later on. They used Lamont's records to get the exact time of the first impact. There are digital records but I'm now the wrong guy to ask. I've been out of Seismology since 2011 and as of now there is no Seismology department left. I was an electronic tech and used to fix and setup seismic stations I didn't really read the data.

It seems like Lamont monopolized the topic of 9/11 and no one else was allowed to report data outside Lamonts' scope. Did it seem like that to you? Do you remember anyone else reporting data? Did you see any military people hanging around the seismology departments?

  • John  sent the following message at 4:55 PM

There were no military around here at the time. I'm sure The USGS had records of it as they are connected to our stations here and the data is shared. I don't know the politics of it but maybe because we had stations around the city and New York state areas. owned by Lamont and Jersey too.

Lynn R. Sykes said he was "10 miles north of Manhattan." and reported unknown greater magnitude of 2.4 for the WTC. Do you know how much higher then 2.4? https://www.nytimes.com/2001/09/12/us/a-day-of-terror-the-measurement-columbia-s-seismographs-log-quake-level-impacts.html    You have to wonder about the lock down on details and why his numbers was a lot higher wasn't used and why he didn't provide details.
